Benefits

Stop stockouts. Unlock cash. Finish more jobs.

A clean bin system, right-sized par levels, and reliable replenishment—without adding headcount.

Buy Back Time

Save 180–500 hours per tech every year.

Most contractors lose 45–60 minutes a day chasing parts, digging through trucks, or waiting on deliveries. Standard’s VMI system eliminates the chaos — saving at least an hour a day per tech. That’s 250 hours a year back in their pocket to run more calls and make more money.

Organized Trucks, Repeatable Systems

We clean, organize, and standardize every service truck.

Most trucks look like rolling junk drawers. We transform them into clean, efficient, and uniform mobile warehouses — a scalable system that every tech can follow. Less searching, more doing.

Free Up Your Cash

We take your inventory off your books and put cash back in your pocket.

All warehouse stock moves to Standard’s balance sheet, so you can reinvest your capital in growth — not parts sitting on a shelf. No more overstock. No more dead money.

Total Accountability & Visibility

Exact job costing. Real-time tracking. Manufacturer rebate accuracy.

VMI gives you clear data at every level — from install bins to manufacturer rebates — so you always know what’s being used, where, and why. Finally, complete control of your materials and margin.

Mini Case Snapshot

“We went from scrambling for parts to finishing more jobs per week.”

After VMI, prep time per truck dropped by 22% and cash tied in inventory fell 18% in the first quarter.

PROCESS

Proven, structured, and built for long-term success.

Most shops are fully operational within 60–90 days.

Confirm the Space

We start by verifying a dedicated, secure space for your VMI.

If there’s no space, that’s the #1 roadblock. We’ll help you define, measure, and prep the area so your setup runs smoothly from day one.

Analyze Usage

We review six months of purchase history from your current suppliers.

Our team filters out the noise, identifies your most-used SKUs, and builds a clean, organized product list tailored to how your technicians actually work.

Define Services & Structure

We meet with your team to finalize your service model — including truck stock, install bins, and warehouse organization.

This stage ensures your field and office teams understand how materials flow through the system before anything hits the shelves.

Go-Live & Implementation

We establish your official go-live date and detailed implementation plan.

Our team installs shelving, labels bins, loads initial stock, and trains your staff. From there, your Standard rep maintains, replenishes, and reports weekly or monthly — keeping your system dialed in and fully accountable.

"We started our first Vendor Managed Inventory (VMI) with Standard Plumbing Supply in the summer of 2021. At the time, our company had just reached $5 million in revenue for 2020. By the end of 2021, we had skyrocketed to $17 million—and over the next three years, we continued to grow, reaching $29.5 million in revenue. This level of growth would not have been possible without the VMI. Our partnership with Standard has enabled us to scale at an exceptional pace, and for that, we’re deeply grateful."

""Having Standards VMI at our shop has been an absolute game changer. Before we had the vmi, inventory management was a constant headache. Theres so much that goes into plumbing and the jobs are always different every single day. Having the support of the VMI has increased production, quality, and employee/customer satisfaction substantially. The personal care of Standard when paying attention to our needs has always been appreciated. I’ve never once felt like Standard has dropped the ball when getting the parts we need ordered/stocked. They’ve also provided us with trainings and workshops on those parts as well as the presentations on parts we might want to offer. Also stocking different tools for counter sales and personal accounts is an added bonus and time saver. Completely in love with Standard and their VMI at our shop. "

"Standard VMI has been a God send. We have worked with other plumbing distributors in town and constantly ran into shortages, stocking issues, lack of support, and worst of all communication errors. Since implementing Standard VMI we have had less stress, less running around, and are able to get jobs done quicker than ever. The Las Vegas team is amazing. I know everyone on a first name basis, they are always eager to help, check in regularly on their team’s performance, and truly give us that feel of we are one big team trying to achieve the same goal, success for BEST AC Plumbing Repair. Their VMI has also made certain processes and connection extremely easy. Private labeling, manufacturer training, training events, and setting us up with connection to vendors who offer BEST and our homeowners benefits. Thank you to Standard. You make our lives easier. Quality parts. Top notch service. Top of the line products. 10/10 recommend."

FAQ

Answers to common questions

Who owns the inventory?

Standard Plumbing Supply owns and manages all VMI inventory.

You only pay for what you use. We carry the inventory on our books, so you free up cash flow and eliminate dead stock sitting on your shelves.

Is there a contract?

Yes.

We establish a 36-month VMI partnership agreement outlining expectations, space requirements, and service standards. This ensures stability, dedicated support, and preferred vendor pricing.

How often do you restock?

Weekly or bi-weekly, depending on your usage and location.

Your dedicated Standard rep counts, replenishes, and audits stock levels on a regular schedule — and we commit to keeping above a 98% service level on parts agreed to stock.

Do you integrate with our system?

Yes, we can integrate or operate independently.

Our VMI platform syncs easily with Service Titan, your purchasing system, or we can run standalone reporting if integration isn’t needed. Either way, you’ll get transparent usage, cost, and rebate data that ties directly into your job costing and accounting.

Where do you operate?

Across the Western United States.
